Houstonians Celebrate the Future of Heart Care at the Grand Opening of The Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care

HOUSTON (March 9, 2023)— The Texas Heart Institute® Center for Cardiovascular Care celebrated the Grand Opening of its new clinic on January 31. Guests joined The Center’s physicians, staff, and leadership to explore the state-of-the-art space and learn about the enhanced, comprehensive patient care amenities.

The new Center, located on the 26th floor of 6624 Fannin, is home to world-renowned physicians and surgeons whose specialties include general and preventive cardiology, heart failure, heart valve care, peripheral vascular disease, coronary disease, aortic aneurysm, cardiac arrhythmia, vein care, and women’s heart health.

Designed to enhance the personalized care provided by each physician and staff member, The Center improves access to advanced cardiovascular care and diagnostic studies for a vast array of heart and vascular conditions, most of which can be performed in the new clinic. The Center also provides patients with access to relevant clinical trials and research studies, many of which were developed at The Texas Heart Institute.

“Dr. Cooley built and fostered a medical community dedicated to personalized care. This medical community now has a home that is representative of the quality of care and excellence for which The Texas Heart Institute is well known,” shared Dr. Eduardo Hernandez, The Center’s President.

The new 19,500-square-foot Center, which is double the footprint of its original space in the same building, is designed to enhance the patient experience by including diagnostic, laboratory, and imaging facilities within the same suite. The clinical area includes 18 spacious exam rooms, most with a bird’s-eye view of Houston, equipped with ergonomic electronic exam tables to allow easy access for patients with orthopedic problems. The Texas Heart Institute clinical research team has a dedicated exam room to screen patients who are interested in clinical trials and to follow up with those already enrolled.

The diagnostic suite includes a PET/CT (positron emission tomography/computed tomography) scanner with Heartsee™ software which provides the most advanced imaging today. “We are one of the few Centers offering the Heartsee™ technology. In just 20 minutes, we can obtain the highest accuracy nuclear stress test and detect flow abnormalities,” said cardiologist  Dr. Alberto Lopez. The suite also includes five echocardiogram rooms to perform cardiac ultrasounds; two peripheral vascular imaging rooms to assess arterial and venous disease throughout the body; four cardiac stress–test rooms; a SPECT (single–photon emission computed tomography) scanner; and a general radiology room.

In addition, The Center has an in-house procedure room designed for treating chronic venous insufficiencyvaricose veins, and other peripheral vascular disease conditions. Procedures such as vein ablation, VenaSeal, and sclerotherapy are often performed under local anesthesia to promote reduced recovery time.

“Not only does the new space provide a modern facility for our patients, but it serves as a true extension of The Texas Heart Institute itself and our mission to improve cardiovascular health today through trailblazing research, thought leadership, education and patient care,” said cardiologist and heart failure specialist Dr. Joseph G. Rogers, President and CEO of The Texas Heart Institute.
