Insurance

IMPORTANT NOTICE

As part of our integration with Baylor College of Medicine, insurance participation, billing policies, and patient financial processes now follow Baylor Medicine guidelines. Insurance participation is subject to change without notice. We encourage all patients to verify coverage with their insurance carrier prior to their appointment.

At The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine, we are committed to providing exceptional cardiovascular care while making the insurance process as straightforward as possible. Our team is here to assist you, but understanding your insurance benefits before your visit can help prevent unexpected costs.

Special Employer Programs

The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine participates in select employer-sponsored Cardiovascular Centers of Excellence (COE) Programs.

If your employer offers a specialized cardiovascular benefit or Center of Excellence program, please let our scheduling team know when making the appointment. Our staff can help determine eligibility requirements and coordinate the appropriate referral and authorization process.

Verify Your Insurance Coverage

Every insurance plan is unique. Coverage may vary based on your employer, network, plan type, or specific policy.
Before your appointment, we recommend contacting your insurance company to verify:

  • Provider participation
  • Referral requirements
  • Prior authorization requirements
  • Copayment amounts
  • Deductibles and coinsurance
  • Coverage for the services being provided

While our staff will review your insurance information prior to your visit, verification of benefits is not a guarantee of payment or insurance coverage. Final payment responsibility is determined by your insurance carrier.

Accepted Insurance Plans

Baylor Medicine participates with a broad network of commercial insurance plans, Medicare, Medicare Advantage plans, and managed care organizations.
Because insurance contracts and network participation change periodically, we encourage patients to reference Baylor Medicine’s official insurance information for the most current list of accepted plans.

Centers of Excellence Programs

The Texas Heart Institute at Baylor College of Medicine is proud to participate in select Cardiovascular Centers of Excellence (COE) Programs offered through participating employer-sponsored health plans. These programs recognize organizations that deliver outstanding cardiovascular care through a multidisciplinary, evidence-based approach focused on quality outcomes and patient experience.

Eligible patients may benefit from:

  • Coordinated cardiovascular care across the continuum of treatment
  • Access to nationally recognized cardiologists and cardiovascular specialists
  • Evidence-based treatment recommendations
  • Collaborative care planning
  • Patient education and long-term disease management

Our physicians participate in employer-sponsored Centers of Excellence programs, including those available to eligible Shell Oil and Motiva Enterprises employees and dependents through participating health plans.

If you believe you qualify for a Center of Excellence program through your employer or insurance carrier, please contact your benefits administrator or notify our scheduling team when making your appointment. We will be happy to assist in coordinating your care.

Your Financial Responsibility

      • Depending on your insurance plan, you may be responsible for:

      • Copayments
      • Deductibles
      • Coinsurance
      • Non-covered services
      • Services requiring prior authorization that are not approved by your insurance carrier
Patient responsibility amounts are determined by your insurance benefits and are due at the time of service when applicable.

Out-of-Network Coverage

If Baylor Medicine is considered out of network under your insurance plan, you may still choose to receive care from our providers. However, your out-of-pocket expenses may be higher depending on your plan’s benefits. We encourage you to contact your insurance carrier before your appointment to understand your out-of-network coverage and financial responsibility.

International Patients

We are pleased to care for patients from around the world. Patients with international insurance coverage or those traveling from outside the United States are encouraged to contact our office prior to scheduling so we can discuss insurance verification and financial arrangements.

Patient Protections

Baylor Medicine complies with the No Surprises Act, which provides protections against certain unexpected medical bills for emergency services and certain out-of-network care.

Additional information regarding your rights and protections is available through Baylor Medicine.
