Texas Heart Institute Announces New Texas Heart Medical Group (THMG) President Dr. Eduardo Hernandez

HOUSTON, TX – The Texas Heart Institute has announced that  Eduardo Hernandez-VilaMD has been named President of its Texas Heart Medical Group clinical practice. A practicing cardiologist since 2000, Dr. Hernandez specializes in coronary and peripheral arterial disease – as well as venous disease – focusing on both medical and interventional management. He transitions into the role previously held by THI Chief Financial Officer Howard K. Schramm, who served as THMG’s acting President when the new practice launched in October of 2020.

Prior to practicing cardiology, Dr. Hernandez completed his medical training at the University of Puerto Rico.  He then completed internship and residency training at the University of Alabama in Birmingham, followed by fellowships in Cardiology and Interventional Cardiology and Advanced Peripheral Vascular interventions at the Texas Heart Institute and the Baylor St. Luke’s Medical Center. Dr. Hernandez is a professional staff member of the Texas Heart Institute and is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Additionally, he serves as Medical Director at the Diagnostic Heart Center of St. Luke’s.
