Why Heart Centers for Women are Important

Physicians Stephanie Coulter, Lauren Barron, and Briana Costello joined other cardiologists and surgeons affiliated with The Texas Heart Institute for the 2nd Annual Global Cardiovascular Forum to discuss the importance of heart centers for women.

The trio highlighted the difference in heart health care for men and women and how this disparity shows in daily patient care at The Texas Heart Institute Center for Cardiovascular Care. Dr. Costello states, “…women are less aggressively treated not only with intervention but with medical therapy after.”

Dr. Coulter talked about the motivations for launching the Center for Women’s Heart & Vascular Health nearly 13 years ago and how those factors still stand true today. The Women’s Center supports The Institute’s mission by focusing on clinical research and heart health education.
