The Texas Heart Institute Promotes Healthy Eating and Fitness at East End Fit Houston Fest 2023

HOUSTON (Nov. 5, 2023) — The Texas Heart Institute led by example today as staff members joined the Zumba dance floor, enjoyed healthy Latin food, and educated the community at the East End Fit Houston Fest 2023.

Spearheaded by Fit Houston — and co-sponsored by the Institute, East End District and HCA Houston Healthcare — the event drew dozens of families and individuals for a Sunday full of Zumba, yoga, healthy cooking demonstrations, and more.

Joseph G. Rogers, President and CEO of the Institute, joined in on the fun by answering attendees’ questions about cardiovascular health and providing individual blood pressure screenings. Additional THI representatives — including Keri Sprung, Jackie Ferrufino, Ron Filer, Steve Palmer and Claire Caton — interacted with volunteers from the many Houston-area health-focused nonprofits and Latin-inspired food vendors arranged in booths along the Esplanade at Navigation.

Dr. Joseph G. Rogers joined Lharissa Jacobs, Executive Director of Fit Houston and Khambrel Marshall for KPRC’s “Newsmakers” show earlier in the week to encourage Houstonians to take charge of their health and attend this celebration of healthy living.
